The Bouncing Egg
We conducted an "egg-periment" by placing an egg in vinegar to see what would happen.
We began by using the scientific method. Our topic was "Eggs" and our question was "What will vinegar do to an egg?" We then conducted researching by watching a video about eggs. We then wrote down what we learned about eggs.

We used our research to help us come up with our hypothesis. We each came up with a hypothesis about what was going to happen. There were some great predictions. Some hypothesized that the egg was going to change colors. Others thought that the yolk would change colors. Some children thought that the egg was going to get big. One student even predicted that the shell would melt.
Then we wrote our hypothesis down in our scientific journals. We conducted our experiment by placing one egg in a jar of vinegar and one egg in a jar of water and then made observations. After recording our results for three days we learned that the egg in vinegar got bigger, turned transparent, and the shell dissolved. The egg in water cracked and a little egg white came out. It did not get larger or become transparent. Then we dropped our two eggs to see what would happen. Our vinegar egg bounced and our egg in water cracked. Eventually the egg in vinegar popped like a water balloon and we were left with a membrane. It was a smelly but fun experiment!
